Bookil

Bookil is a PDF reader for iPhone and iPad. PDFs sit on a shelf you can return to, and your reading history stays even after you delete the file. Import from any app, organize into collections, and read with a custom-built reader that supports color themes, page transitions, and bookmarks.

Main features

• Library with covers and filters — search, sort by recency/title/progress, filter by reading state.
• Collections — group PDFs into folders. A single PDF can belong to multiple collections.
• Private collections — lock a collection with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Locked books are hidden from All Books, Unfiled, and search.
• Reading history that outlives the file — Bookil identifies PDFs by their internal fingerprint, so deleting and re-importing the same PDF restores your progress.
• Reader settings — choose between Default, Sepia, and Black color themes; adjust brightness and contrast; pick a page transition (Slide, Fade, Curl, Scroll); toggle film grain.
• Bookmarks and chapter scrubber — mark pages and jump between chapters when the PDF has a table of contents.
• Backup as JSON — export your library to a single Bookil Library.json file.
• 14 languages — German, English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese.
