Settings reference
Every option in Bookil's Settings screen.
This page lists every option in Settings, in the order they appear.
App header
At the top of Settings: the Bookil icon, name, the tagline “Read PDFs like books.”, and the current version. Nothing to configure here.
Library
Reading history
Opens the Reading History view, where past PDFs are listed in the order you last opened them. The count next to this row is the number of PDFs in your history. PDFs in a locked private collection are excluded from the count.
Export reading history
Builds a Bookil Library.json file and opens the share sheet so you can save or send it. See Back up your library.
Show files in Files app
Opens Bookil’s folder directly in the Files app. Useful for copying PDFs in or out, or removing a file that won’t import correctly.
Reading
Default binding
Two choices: Left or Right. This is the binding direction Bookil uses for any PDF that doesn’t have a per-book override. You can override this per book in the reader’s settings sheet.
Sidebar position
Two choices: Left or Right. Controls which side of the screen the sidebar appears on.
Display
Appearance
Three choices: Auto (follow system), Light, or Dark. Switches the in-app theme. Affects the library and reader, not the PDF page itself.
Keep screen on
A toggle. When on, Bookil prevents the screen from auto-locking while you’re reading. The default is on.
Help
Each row opens a page in a built-in browser inside Bookil.
- How to use — opens this documentation site.
- Privacy Policy — opens the Bookil privacy policy.
- Support — opens the support page with the feedback form.
The footer notes that all three links go to bookil.labee.dev.
