Bookil 2026.07 release notes
What changed in the 2026.07 release.
Released: July 2026 — The 2026.07 release focuses on collections and the reader: you can now reorder your collections, the reader marks the end of a book, and zooming and tapping feel more predictable. Bookil stays free and remains localized in 14 languages.
Highlights
Reorder collections
Collections now keep the order you choose. When you have more than one collection, tap the reorder button (the up-and-down arrows) in the Collections sidebar header to open the reorder sheet, then drag the handles to arrange them.
See Organize your library with collections.
End-of-book flourish
When you reach the last page, the reader shows a brief glow so it’s clear you’ve finished the book. The page also springs back at the end of a continuous scroll instead of stopping flat.
Double-tap to zoom
Double-tap a page to zoom in, then double-tap again to zoom back out — alongside the existing pinch gesture. At 1×, tapping the edges turns the page as before.
Fixes
- Locked collections — you can now switch away from a locked collection using the sidebar without unlocking it again.
- Single tap while zoomed — a single tap now shows or hides the reader bars even while a page is zoomed in.
- Edge taps after zoom — page-turn taps at the edges no longer lag after the double-tap zoom gesture was added.
- Spread layout centering — in Double layout, the cover and an odd final page are now centered on screen.
- iPad bar height — on iPad, showing or hiding the reader bars no longer changes the page height.
What’s still planned
- iCloud sync — Bookil’s data model is ready for sync, but the feature isn’t shipping yet. For now, reading history lives on the device where you set it.
- Widgets.
